You start with the signature page, though this is not numbered amongst the pages of your dissertation. For all purposes and intents, it is the first page. In most cases, the signature of your adviser must be on this page, as a sign he/she has accepted the last sketch of your work. For doctoral theses/dissertations, the second page is also the title page and it is not numbered. It comprises the year and month when you met the degree requirements. Following this is the copyright page applicable even though you are not attempting to register your paper. After this comes your work itself.
Broken down further, the paper’s introduction is consisted of the signature page, the title page, and the copyright page, together with any dedications, acknowledgments, etc. The abstract, the table of contents, the tables, the figures, and others are components of the introductory material. But, these are optional. The main body of your work comprises of the main content, the appendices, the illustrations, and the bibliography. All of the pages must be numbered. The bibliography and appendices are demanded and needed to be included.
